Since im fixxing up my BB7 i mailed the guys over at http://www.balfa.co.uk/ to ask what kind of parts they could get me And what the individual parts would cost.

None of the parts are on the actual site but rest assure most of them are in stock, the only thing they did not have at the moment was the Main pivot Axle. and that one is due in 2 weeks.

Flat Link Plates - £65.00 per set
Bent Link Plates - £85.00 per set
Main Pivot Axle - £25.00 (currently out of stock, due in 2 weeks)
Bent Plate Spacer Bar - £20.00
Complete Bolt Kit (excluding shock bolts) - £18.00
Shock Bolts - £8.00 each
Pulley Wheel (complete with bearings & bolts) - £35.00

I was a bit bumbed with what the price for a complete Linkplate thingy would be. 65 + 85 +20 + 18 = £188

Thank you for that info! I will put it on the website as soon as possible. It's a pity, that they don't have floating brake adapters anymore...

I actually emailed them the day before you put this up, asking about the pulley and link plates. I was very disappointed at the prices i got back, I mean on one hand its great these people are supporting bb7 riders and i understand they need to make money. But holy hell its just so goddam expensive! 120cdn for link plates! 55 for a pulley! 35 or so for bolts etc.!

Ofcourse when i went to take my weathered bb7 i just bought apart, i discovered not only my grey link plates had 2 stretched and ovalized holes, but the moron kid i bought it off had changed the bearings and banged on the axle with a hammer(without bolt threaded in) and mashed the shit out of it(no longer cone shaped)! causing the link plate to grind into an oval and develop play!

So I'm pissed as hell finding out these repairs are going to cost me more than i paid for the frame, and thats before i get into gusseting the shit weld job he had done from the frame cracking from no floating brake.

Its long winded, but i guess this is the place to say this haha.

Might have to consult some local machine shops when i have money to go ahead with this, might be more cost effect and i may be able to swing a floating brake that way too. Either way this is gonna cost alot!

I ordered the bolts and pulley wheel along with the axle.

Ended up fixing up my old linkplates and had them painted in the same color as the frame.

The pulleywheel you get is not identical with the one on my ride. The old one was in 2 pieces with a cogwheel in it, the new one is just a solid piece of some kind of plastic compound.

Heads up regarding the axle, the new one uses the same bolt size as the linkplates. The old one i had on my bike was smaller.

The new pulleys don't look like much compared to the old ones, but they are better.

Guys,

We all have to make a living. Please remember that we are producing these for old frames. In our prices, we have to allow for the fact that we may produce an expensive batch of link plates & they will take 5 years to sell, or not even sell at all.

Even still, our pricing is far cheaper than what other manufacturers charge for similar parts.

Remember a BB7 was like £1500 and for £220ish you can buy everything apart from the front & rear triangles. Thats super cheap for a seasons riding and thats if you replace it all once a year.

J

Im a bit in a need of a rear triangle, and flat plates.
Is there anyway of getting a new rear triangle, besides buying a old balfa bb7 and slaughter it (And wreck the dream of some poor kid wanting a BB7 ;) ), or try to make one myself?
