I have problem with my 5th Element hitting the swingarm during compression, just as described here: http://www.balfa.wooyek.pl/balfa-bb7-te ... -data.html

Anyone could suggest a rear shock which doesn't cause such problems? Would DHX5.0 fit ok?

Strange!! I have a 5th on mine and never had it hit..............unless the shock was not pumped up to the required PSI or if you have it bolted into the lower holes then it may hit.

Wookey is using a FOX DHX 5 so it should be ok.

Yes, I've changed my Swinger 6-Way to DHX 5.0 and it fit's tight but ok. But Swinger has made it's way through the linkge the hard way - before I figured it out.

Also some people on forums/Pinkbike described this problem with 5th Element as well as DHX 5.0 - which is kinda strange. Looks like every Balfa is a little bit different, just as with every craftsmanship? ;)

Shock pressure has nothing to do with that problem - it doesn't change the position of the shock inside the frame at all ;)

Also, this problem occurs when shock is mounted in upped holes (slacker geometry) - in lower ones (steeper geometry) everything seems to work ok.

As the shock compresses that link plate piece gets closer to the reservoir. If you do not have enough air pressure or the correct spring for the weight of the rider or the style of riding
you do, you will bottom that shock and hit the link plate. I have first hand experienced this.

I think what wooyek means is, airpressure/preload will not stop the brace from hitting the resevoir, it will just happen less frequently since you wont reach that portion of the travel as often.

Has anybody run a cane creek double barrel or marzocchi roco on their bb7? wondering if they clear enough to work

also, wouldnt it be possible to get a new brace fabbed with a curve in it? i mean after all its just an aluminum tube with threads in it. I'm sure you could fab a carved one for extra clearance.
